How to Get Started
Harrogate Loft Conversion, How To Get Started.

Getting started with your Harrogate Loft Conversion
Depending on the type of roof construction, area in which you live, and size and shape of the conversion, there are three areas to discuss .
1) Full planning permission
If the conversion is in a Harrogate conservation area, your property is listed grade 1 or 2, or if the loft conversion requires dormer windows that are larger in volume than the allowed permitted size, you will need full planning permission.
We can produce low cost plans to suit every need and provide a full service with our in house architects, and structural engineers.
Planning permission can take up to 12 weeks from submission.
2) Building notice
If the loft conversion is within the permitted allowance, than the build can be carried out this way.
This is a matter of filling in the form shown , as a notice to carry out building works.
A fee is required by the Harrogate local authority, or private inspector..
Building inspection will then be carried out, normally on three occasions during the build.
All necessary certificates will also be passed on so to gain a certificate of completion.
3) Permitted development
This allows you to carry out building work to a permitted volume, without the need of permission from the local authority.
Be careful this is not as straight forward as it may seem.
We always use an architect for this to get it right!

Structural works
All loft conversions in Harrogate will require some element of structural work , and their fore need a structural engineer, and structural calculations, that will need to be passed on to the building inspector.
We organise all the necessary professionals as a design to completion service, making for a hassle free build.
